Clean Skincare Routine

These days, everything scares me. Not to be alarmist or depressing but aside from the horrendous things going on in the world and our country, it seems like we're constantly uncovering new toxicities in the things we intake daily and it's no longer something to be trusted to those top selling brands to make sure everything they put out is healthy and good for us. Looking back to this post, I've really been trying to search for brands that only use healthy nontoxic ingredients to create products that work just as well as any other less trustworthy but popular brand. They've got to be out there, right? Skincare is one of my first ventures in this journey. It's the closest, "most intimate" layer, and applied the most frequently, whereas makeup is something that never even touches my face some days. I've tried lots of things, but right now I've found a nice routine that is actually doing good things for my skin. So let's discuss, shall we?

Biossance Cleansing Oil // A fantastic one-step cleansing oil that works to remove makeup just as well as a basic cleanser on no-makeup days. This is also what I use to remove Kylie lip kits from Sailor's face when she gets a hold of one (if you ever watch my Instagram stories, you know about this struggle). While I'm sure the lip kit has no regard for the toxicity of its ingredients (guess I have to put them in a lockbox), I feel good knowing that the remover I use is safe.

Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator // This was given to me as a gift from Rosie at my Fashion Feng Shui workshop. She's a clean beauty blogger and wanted to introduce me to some goodies when she heard I was on the hunt earlier this year. This spray smells absolutely DIVINE and preps the skin for serum/moisturizer. I love this so much I always end up overspraying/wasting it because I don't want the mist to end. Dramatic.

Vintner's Daughter Serum // I'm SO glad this serum came into my life. Definitely the star of everything I'm sharing with you today, so if you spring for one thing make it this one. It just does wonders! The only drawback is the price tag so I was almost hoping I wouldn't love it but so worth it for something that's actually healthy and actually works. It gives me a glow, minimizes spots, smoothes lines and pores, hydrates, smells amazing, and works as the perfect prep to moisturizer. I use it day and night and am dreading the day I run out of this first bottle. Send help.

Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream // This is the best clean moisturizer for dry skin I've tried so far. It smells amazing, has a thick luxurious consistency, and definitely gives the skin a really nice glow. It's not AS heavy as La Mer if you are comparing those (I am) but it's a lot less pricey ($48) and works really well. I do think it performs best as a final step after a spray and/or serum or oil to lock in the moisture. I'm not sure how I will feel in the really cold months when my skin is really tight and dry but for now I'm impressed.

Osmia Lip Doctor // Also a Rosie pick. It's just a great lipbalm and works really well with a nice texture on the lips.

Sangre de Fruta Body Cream // More of a balm or an oil than a cream, I love how it feels and smells (they have multiple scents to choose from). My favorite way to use this is to layer it over a body lotion after I get out of the shower (again, I have super dry skin). It has a lot of oils, like coconut, that work better to seal in preexisting moisture than to hydrate on their own. It gives your skin a nice hydrated glow but lasts longer when layered over a lotion. Still looking for the best clean body lotion that doesn't break the bank, since I go through a bottle of it in 2 weeks.

Bath salts from Jenni Kayne // The cutest little gift they were handing out at the store with these gorgeous dried flowers. Mostly I keep them out for decoration, but sometimes I put them in Sailor's bath. ;)

OK I would LOVE to know if you guys have any favorite clean beauty products in any category! I'm determined to find all the best ones!
