On the Frontier

My happiest fashion moments are when clothes make me feel like I'm stepping into another place and/time while still feeling fresh and current. It's like a subtle alter ego, without being a costume. There are certain vibes I'm always excited to embrace, but since we moved to our new hood, my style has been shifting a bit to accommodate the feeling of our environment. There's a laid back desert vacay vibe mixed with high school nostalgia, mixed with an old ranch / western town vibe which as you may have guessed is today's chosen inspiration. I love how this move out of the craziness of the city has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and really embrace some new inspiration for my style. This dress by Heidi Merrick was an immediate yes for me. I put it on, took one look in the mirror and thought of Westworld which really just speaks to the whole frontier thing I'm getting into right now. It's certainly different from anything in my closet, and it's easy to dress up or down for day or night. I love the slightly exaggerated fluff of the skirt yet the dress somehow feels laid back and effortless at the same time.
