Sometimes the most overlooked wardrobe projects that need to be tackled are the ones that are staring us in the face. Take the t-shirt collection. I don't know about you, but t-shirts are the #1 thing I reach for on a day-to-day basis. Since I work from home while also managing a toddler, I only ever reach for nicer tops when I'm actually going out for something like lunch with a friend or a meeting, and that's my reality. Tees are just comfier, easier, and can be dressed up in a pinch. I'm pretty good about getting rid of clothes that aren't serving me or are just too tired - I detox my closet about 3 times a year. But sometimes that leads to certain categories of the wardrobe getting a little thin, which is exactly what's been happening with my t-shirts. Suddenly the most important item in my wardrobe is seriously lacking. Good t-shirts can be hard to find. Everyone sells them, but so few actually fit the way you want and stand the test of time. So I went on a mission this season. I had to find the BEST t-shirts, and today I wanted to share with you what I came up with. Here were the rules: They need to be relaxed but not too baggy, long enough that they won't become too cropped if they shrink by accident (or ideally just won't shrink in the first place), come in good neutral colors, and have either a v-neck or a loose crew neck.

BEST BUDGET BUY: Madewell. At $19.50, these are such good tees! I love the lineny lightweight fabric and the nuanced neutrals they come in. I went up a size, and they do shrink just a tad. I got this one in 3 colors (all shown above and below). My one gripe is I wish it didn't have a pocket, but for the price I'll probably buy more of these just to have on hand.

THE PERFECT FADED BLACK: The Great. I LOVE a faded black tee - that's what I tend to reach for a ton. This one is so effortless and comfortable. I got in the larger size but I might get the next size down in white since this one is quite baggy (great for skinny jeans or leggings). Good to have a range of fits for different types of bottoms

ESSENTIAL GRAY V-NECK: Current/Elliott. It's the perfect shade of heathered gray, and not too baggy - perfect for wearing with boyfriend shorts all summer long.

BASIC WHITE: Current/Elliott. At first I tossed this one aside thinking it looked like nothing special, but sometimes that's exactly what you need! Just plain white, no frills, but quality, soft, and pocketless. It's a little shorter in length which is best for the front-tuck, and good for layering.

SPORTY TOUCH: Treasure & Bond. I love to mix some tees into the collection that aren't just plain and the sporty stripes on this one are a fun detail. I got this one in blush too!

DESTROYED: The Great. I love the lightweight fabric, the blush tone, and the destroyed details that aren't overbearing. The color is a nice change from the usual black/white/gray options.
