LA Layers
As someone who loves no season more than layering season, I really start to feel like myself again in the fall. I've talked about how I felt confused/upset by Los Angeles fall weather when I first moved here six years ago, but over the years I've started to navigate how to balance the warmer temps with a fall feeling. Pieces that once felt kind of pointless - leather shorts or a long jacket with no sleeves (too heavy for summer but too skin-baring for fall) now start to make sense. On these warmer fall days they're exactly what we rely on to experience fall fashion and layering without overdressing for the temp. I love this look because it really feels like a fall outfit but I don't feel like that girl who just insisted on wearing something way warmer than what's appropriate for the sake of the fall feeling. Adding some sneakers and the carry-all tote (which I may or may not have stolen from my friend Jessica, along with a few others from her collection) keep it laid back for day, but trading in some heels and a clutch would make it chic for evening as well... I had so much fun shooting this one with my friend Heather Kincaid who I've been lucky enough to collaborate with a few times before and whose work I'm always obsessed with. Check out her blog - you'll see what I mean when I say I want to get married again just so she can shoot it. I'm excited to share more of the posts we shot together in the coming weeks!
