Hello Portland

Hello out there! I’m checking in today after a lonnnng hiatus. I have been feeling called to blog again and I hope you can excuse my absence. If you have been catching my updates on Instagram, then you’ve noticed a LOT has changed for our family in 2020 (aside from all the insanity we are all sharing in this year). Hazel turned 1, Sailor turned 5, Ian got a new job, I started making jewelry, and WE MOVED TO PORTLAND. Sold our house in SoCal, picked up, left, and are never looking back. If you would have told me that this year would completely flip my life on its back like this, I never would have believed you, but here we are.

As we settle into our new home, I’ve been shocked by just how much time and effort the process has required! I’ve done it many times before, but I must have forgotten. I literally can’t believe I foolishly thought we would all arrive here and our new life would just start. In reality, I STILL don’t know where half of our underwear is and I’m pretty sure there’s a bunch of rotten bananas packed in a box in the closet downstairs. Needless to say, I need all the help I can get while we try to get some semblance of routine around here. That’s why I was beyond excited to find out about Walmart’s new free unlimited delivery ($35 minimum, restrictions apply) and other much needed benefits through Walmart+.

A new membership that’s available in many zip codes, Walmart+ allows you to order all kinds of necessities like groceries, baby gear, toys, home decor, kitchen items - whatever random needs your week throws at you. Let’s face it - I’m not in a position to be running around town, popping into stores while I have months worth of work to catch up on, two kids, and an entire house to unpack. Plus, while I might love to wander through the aisles, that’s just not in the cards right now both because of Covid AND the lack of hours in a day. So, in my sweats with a cup of coffee from my window seat is the method of choice for shopping by a long shot.

Just last week, I ordered diapers, cleaning supplies, more pumpkins for my front step, a salt lamp for Hazel’s room, a toy for Sailor, and some cute Halloween decor elements like a skeleton hand and spooky chains. If it weren’t for these items being delivered this way, I honestly probably would never have gotten around to decorating our mantel for Halloween. Now I feel like I ONLY shop for the necessities by having them delivered to my door. And even if I do decide to shop in person, I get member prices on fuel, and can use mobile scan & go which lets you check out as you walk through the store for contact free shopping.

These days, I just feel like I can never have too much help (then again, isn’t that all the time?) and Walmart+ has been a total game changer!

Looking forward to keeping you up to speed on ALL the happenings and my life in Portland. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram for daily updates!
