Terra Cotta Eyes

There was a time when trying eye makeup looks in different bright tones was the norm. I was all over it in the early 2000's but then I distinctly remember a time in 2009 or so when I found one look that worked and experimenting became a thing of the past. It was all smokey eyes all the time, then I eventually lost the smokey and stuck with natural. Whatever is quickest and easiest. I'm the girl who buys an eyeshadow palette with 12 colors on it and only uses 3 of them. But lately in my most used palettes (the Kylie bronze and the Shades of Light by Kat Von D) the more orangey shades caught my attention. For some odd reason, this color feels like a neutral for summer with with bronzey face and peachy lip without looking overbearing or crazy. I'm kind of digging it. The best part is that it's even more simple than my usual 2-shade look (base color and darker contour). You just cover the bottom part of your lid with some of the one color and you're done! My suggestion is to stick to only mattes (no shimmer!) and barely any eyeliner, if any. Maybe some experimenting with color from time to time can actually make our routine easier while keeping us from getting stuck in a beauty rut.
