Gilded Thanksgiving - The Life Styled

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It's a wonderful opportunity to decompress before the intensity of the holidays and the end of the year are upon us, kicking back with family and friends, cooking up a storm, creating a beautiful table, and taking time to give thanks for all our blessings. My parents are coming to spend it with us this year, so it's the first Thanksgiving in awhile that we'll be cooking at home. There are a few dishes I always love to make (sweet potato soufflé and homemade cranberry sauce) and a few I'll be a little rusty at (turkey and pumpkin pie) - but that's half the fun of hosting. The other half is setting the scene and picking out an outfit that's equal parts comfy, cozy, celebratory, and expandable (of course). While Thanksgiving tends to provoke a color scheme of deep earthy neutrals, I say go gold instead. It's the perfect festive shade that still honors the traditional warm palette, but adds a glam factor that this holiday sometimes falls short on.
