Now that it's time to start thinking about holiday outfits, I've been looking to sequins for inspiration but I'll be honest - I'm not as excited about them as previous years. Could it be? Have sequins gotten too overdone? Don't get me wrong, I still adore all my sequin pieces and plan to wear them proudly this season, but I also feel the time has come to get more creative and think about other options with which to sparkle. Exhibit A: crystals. Nowadays, it seems that everything from a casual sweatshirt to a taffeta cocktail dress has a cluster of jewels on it and I'm loving it. I might even go as far as to say that the crystal is the sequin's more sophisticated, refined older sister.
