Classic Camo
I love it when fashion is found in unlikely places. When I was doing costumes for a show this past summer, I ended up becoming a regular at the military surplus store on Venice Blvd in Culver City. It had never occurred to me to go there before but it definitely opened my eyes to all kinds of interesting possibilities from combat boots and camo in every pattern and color to canteens, beanies, overalls, flight suits, and pins (some of which I featured here). I picked up this pre-owned camo jacket on one of my excursions and instead of it falling under the "cute in theory" curse and migrating to the back of my closet, I've actually found myself reaching for it fairly often. This is my favorite way to wear it - with retro dark rinse jeans, a ripped tee, Converse high tops, orangey red lips, and layered necklaces (see last Wednesday's post) to add a welcomed touch of glamour.
Army jacket from military surplus store (I love this Aqua version and it's on sale!), Rag & Bone jeans, Iro tee, Converse shoes, Cambridge Satchel Co. bag (c/o), Necklaces: Workhorse Jewelry (c/o), Ell and Emm (c/o), Forever21, Bracelets: Forever21, Ell and Emm (c/o), Michael Kors watch, Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square + NARS Cinematic lipstick in Short Circuit
