Sheerous Maximus
The sheer maxi. It's a daunting concept that could give one nightmares of strangers pointing and laughing at your skivvies but it's too good of a trend not to rock til your heart's content. There's one word to know here: layering. Anything that looks deliberate under an outer sheer layer will come across as stylish and purposeful rather than accidental and embarrassing. The same can be said for sheer tops - a lacy black bra looks like part of the outfit. 
So if your maxi dress or skirt is missing a little opacity, your best friend is a form fitting mini-skirt, dress, or boyshorts to wear as your base layer. It not only protects your unmentionables from plain view - it adds a whole other dimension to your outfit.
